At A.S. Noe Consulting we manage various networks and provide geographic redundancy in the event that one of our network operations centers becomes unavailable due to emergency or catastrophe. We monitor the telecommunication network for alarms or certain conditions that may require special attention to avoid impact on the network’s performance.
Most foreseeable outages are avoided by maintaining a proactive environment and providing on-site redundancy for power failures, and monitoring software to detect bit errors, framing errors, line coding errors, and circuits down. For severe conditions that are impossible to anticipate – such as an optical fiber cable – we have procedures in place to escalate issues in a hierarchic manner.
If we are unable to immediately deploy countermeasures that will address a problem, network engineers at another NOC will be incorporated into our PSRP (Problem Solving Resource Pool).
